    Coconut Turmeric Porridge

When I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism, I delved deep into research. Why, when it felt like I was doing all the right things, was my body behaving contradictory? I’d been eating a clean, whole food plant based diet for the better part of 7 years – why now was everything out of balance?  Autoimmune conditions are tricky, to put things lightly. Just when I thought I’d gotten a grasp on managing and living with Type 1 Diabetes, this whole new chapter in my life opened it’s pages for me. After much contemplation, and not feeling particularly in the mood for blogging, or sharing for that matter, I’m slowly feeling more…

    Wellness Nourish Bowl

For us here at the base of the globe, daylight savings was set in motion recently. We set our clocks forward an hour, in order to save as much light as possible. I love this time of year because it means longer days, and evenings outdoors. Whether it be barbecuing (aka Braaing as us ‘Saffa’s’ call it), walks in nature/on the beach or even a stroll around the neighborhood – it’s so great to make the most of this time of year.  So, in order to make the most of all these outdoor activities, I don’t preferably want to be cooking for hours in the kitchen. I introduce you to…

    Creamy Mushrooms with Zucchini Noodles

Food photography for me is so much more than taking a few shots of a carefully prepared meal. It’s a creative outlet that makes my soul happy and I have so much fun creating each scene and stringing along the story of each post. For this Creamy Mushrooms with Zucchini Noodles recipe, I decided to step it up a bit and add a few different elements to captivate how beautiful plant based food can be.  I decided to build the story up, from the cloves of garlic to the edible flowers. From the creamy vegan mushrooms to the pops of parsley, carefully selected from my garden. This dish came together so…

Bran Muffins with Carrots and Walnuts

This week on the blog I decided to do an update recipe of my Carrot Bran and Walnut Muffins. It’s such a delicious recipe that is so great for lunchboxes, breakfasts and afternoon treats. If you’re one who can tolerate bran, then I’m sure you’ll love this recipe. It’s sweetened with dates, coconut sugar and raisins and is full of fibre.  I had such fun adjusting this recipe (only slightly) and taking the photographs was the main highlight. One Friday morning, I had this creative urge and headed to the hardware store to get some creative supplies. My mission was to paint some beautiful photography backdrops, and I had such…

    Yellow Split Pea Dahl

What better way to ease into Winter, than with a delicious warm bowl of comforting dahl. With the blend of spices, creaminess of the coconut milk and wholesome brown rice, this Yellow Split Pea Dahl dish is the perfect way to warm you up from inside. Nourishing, easy to digest and flavorsome, it’s most certainly a great option for these chilly days we’ve been having.  I tend to make a big batch and have it for days after with absolutely no objection – just pure food bliss. It freezes well too, which is great when you’re pressed for time or just can’t be bothered to cook. Let’s be honest –…

Roasted Beetroot Broccoli and Green Bean Salad

The myth I love busting the most about healthy eating, is that salads are boring, tasteless ad un-fulfilling. But this, my friends, could not be further from the truth. Salads allow you to bring as much creativity to the plate as you like. Layering and combining different flavours, colours and textures is one way to expand your salad experience – and create something different and delicious.  So that’s exactly what I did with this roasted Beetroot, Broccoli and Green Bean Salad. Firstly, the star of the salad – the crimson coloured cubes of earthy sweet beetroot, take this whole dish to another level. Not only in taste – but health…

Red Velvet Beetroot Brownies with a Fluffy Aquafaba Vanilla Cashew Cream Frosting

I’ve been wanting to make a Red Velvet Beetroot recipe on the blog for ages. Being not too sure if I wanted to experiment with either cupcakes or brownies, I settled on the latter. Brownies are a good size for a treat, and a little can go a long way. And so, these Red Velvet Beetroot Brownies were created. Crumbly yet gooey at the same time – what perfect balance. The intoxicating red hue from the crimson beetroot is captivating to say the least. It beckons an elegance that I was eager to experiment with and share.
