It’s 40 days until our holiday back to South Africa, and I am so excited! Not only am I looking forward to seeing my family and friends, I’m really excited about all the foodie related things about visiting my home country. I’m super keen to visit the new cafes that have popped up since I left in 2014, and can’t wait to munch on all the fruit that you can’t get here in New Zealand.
So while my mind is inundated with excitement, I managed to create this delicious Vegan Lemon Coconut Cake recipe that turned out so well. It’s gluten free, low in carbs, high in healthy fats, full of flavor and is 100% vegan. Continue reading
Tennis star Venus Williams is undoubtedly one of the most impressive athletes of her generation (or perhaps of a few generations). Born in California in 1980, she famously rose to professional tennis at a time when the sport was still primarily white. Showing talent early on and pushed by her competitive father, Williams turned pro in 1994 at the age of 14, though she didn’t really find success until a few years later. By the late-90s she was beginning to rack up deep runs in tennis’s biggest tournaments, en route to the 7 Grand Slam titles she owns today. Continue reading
Happy Spring! The birds are chirping, the sun is shining (for most of the time that is), there are blossoms everywhere and we’ve just got back from giving all the new born Spring babies some love at the animal farm. I just love this time of year!

I’ve been wanting to make a Red Velvet Beetroot recipe on the blog for ages. Being not too sure if I wanted to experiment with either cupcakes or brownies, I settled on the latter. Brownies are a good size for a treat, and a little can go a long way. And so, these Red Velvet Beetroot Brownies were created.
Crumbly yet gooey at the same time – what perfect balance. The intoxicating red hue from the crimson beetroot is captivating to say the least. It beckons an elegance that I was eager to experiment with and share. Continue reading

I love seasonal eating. I love the abundance of locally grown food that is at it’s peak supply. Happy farmers, happy consumers and happy wallets. While it’s saddening that avocado’s are nearly triple their usual price, bright and beautiful pumpkin is bountiful. Vibrantly golden, this wholesome and nutritionally dense vegetable is just what I feel my body needs in these cooler winter months. Continue reading
It’s getting really chilly here down in the depths of the Southern Hemisphere, so this week on the blog I’ve decided to share a fresh vegetable juice recipe. This warming carrot, ginger and beetroot juice is just what you need to stay on-top of your health and to limit any nasty colds and flu’s.
As the colder months approach, I tend to crave more warming, dense, comfort foods. Through winter, a great way to remain healthy (as well as staying balanced and happy) is to load up on freshly juiced vegetables and fruits. Continue reading
