Tofu Miso Soup (Vegan)
While there is much speculation around the whole ‘soy’ topic, and the fact that genetically modified soy beans are penetrating more and more of the global soy markets, there are still loads of health benefits in fermented soy products. Containing less anti-nutrients, fermented soy products, like Miso, have an array of nutritional benefits and can have a positive effect on so many bodily systems. This Tofu Miso Soup recipe is an example of how fermented soy products can be incredibly delicious, along with reaching high points on the nutrition scale. It is 100% plant based and is seriously such a quick and easy delicious meal that can be thrown together in no time at…

Creamy Vegan Mushrooms with Spaghetti
A couple of days ago I shared this post on Instagram and Facebook and asked if you’d guys would like the recipe. I got such a great response, so this week I tweaked and created this delicious Creamy Vegan Mushroom recipe that I paired with some delicious Chickpea Spaghetti. Nick and I rarely eat out, which means that we make 99% of our meals at home. This is usually (depending on how I’m feeling) where my creativity tends shines through. I always strive to create something delicious, nutritious and relatively easy. The problem is that lighting at this time of day is not at it’s peak, so unfortunately the majority…

Sweet Potato Waffle Rostis
Moving to a new country can come with many new things to learn and get used to. New places, new mannerisms and new names. For me, one of those new names is Kumara aka. Sweet Potato. Here in New Zealand, the Kumara is a staple in many diets. Now I also know that sweet potatoes/kumara make up a large portion of most plant based eaters diets too, and there is a number of reasons why. Firstly they are so delicious! They are sweet and when steamed they have that ‘melt in your mouth’ sensation. Sweet potatoes have a lower GI than regular potatoes, which means they won’t spike your sugar…

What I Eat in a Day + VIDEO
I’ve seen loads of blog posts on this topic and have watched a few Youtube videos too, and they always tend to inspire me and spark ideas, so I thought it’s definitely time for me to share what my nourishment looks like in a day. It’s always so interesting to see what other people eat, when they eat, and how much they eat. Interesting to me that is! And I also find inspiration in the creativity of the food that people eat. Food is so personal. It can tell a story. It can tell you about a persons culture, what they were craving, what they enjoy. So intimate! Food sustains us…

Green Goddess Bowl (Vegan)
I am a woman. I am empowered and proud of who I am. Integrity, values and ambition. A Goddess. Goddess. That word alone gives me butterflies in my tummy, and adds to my feelings of empowerment. I believe it is so important to be in touch with your true self, be you a man or a woman. It’s important for us to connect to our divinity and exude our souls. And what better way to portray our sanctity than with food. Wholesome, nourishing, beautiful and empowering food. Food that lights up each of our cells and makes us beam from within. Food that makes us feel amazing and godlike. Full…

Vegan Tofu Scramble
Well! I’ll start this blog off by saying it’s been a rather intense week! While I’m super excited to share this Vegan Tofu Scramble recipe with you, I’ll give you my brief summary of my experience of the recent earthquake/s. If you haven’t heard already, New Zealand had a 7.8 Earthquake at a little past 12am early Monday morning. I awoke abruptly to Nick shaking me and instantly I knew what was going on. The earth was moving. Our whole house was shaking, and so vigorously that the water in the toilet was loudly swishing from side to side. Instant panic mode! My first instinct was to run outside, yet…

Creamy Vegan Bolognese
Slow cooked, aromatic bolognese is one of the ultimate comfort foods. When you’re craving something dense and wholesome, this is a favorite for many! However, for some it can leave the digestive system feeling burdened rather than nourished. So, I decided to put my own twist of this Italian classic, substituting ground beef for lentils, and dense pasta (which is iconic for a bolognese dish) for butternut squash noodles. With the addition of a creamy vegan white sauce, the result was a deeply flavored dish with a creamy twist, all elements complimenting each other perfectly!

Buckwheat Broccoli Fritters
Cruciferous vegetables boast a huge amount of anti-cancer properties, which include removing carcinogens from your body, inhibiting cancer cells from growing, and even forcing the cancer cells to die. These points alone are perfect reasons to include as many cruciferous vegetables in your diet as possible. “But how, Taryn?” you ask. Well I’ll tell you! Forget about the sloppy, boiled, green mush our grandparents and parents used to make us. Let me introduce you to my special Buckwheat Broccoli Fritters.

Sweet Potato Fries
These past few weeks have been so busy, I’m slowly settling back into my normal routine. These Sweet Potato Fries are one of the quick and easy meals/side dishes I’ve been making while being so occupied. At the end of June I flew to Auckland for training and stayed in the most posh hotel. Truly felt like royalty and the view of the city skyline was incredible. We then had a friend over from South Africa at the beginning of July and had an amazing three weeks exploring this beautiful country with him. From skiing at Mt Hutt in Christchurch to the incredibly scenic West Coast of the South Island hustle…
