Warming Turmeric Latte
That moment when you think ‘Whawhaaattt!’, where has this been all my life? Well, my friends, that’s the moment I had after making (and tasting) this super yummy Warming Turmeric Latte. I could seriously sit and drink this all day. It’s so soothing and warming and hits all the right flavor notes. The scent of warming cinnamon and cardamom wafting through the house alone is so inviting and so relaxing! It’s the best on a cold day and we’ve had some pretty chilly mornings and evenings lately. I certainly am looking forward to Spring which seems to be more and more evident these days. There are currently blossoms outside our kitchen window and…

Blackcurrant CHIA and Mint Protein Smoothie
Rolling on from my post last week, where I shared a neat Infographic explaining some of the nutritional health benefits of popular culinary herbs, this week I decided to add a little bit of mint to my diet. I don’t often use mint to be perfectly honest, mainly because I seem to forget about it. Does that ever happen to you with certain foods? You’ll forget about them for ages and then one day realize ‘Oh yeah! I forgot about that! I haven’t had that in ages!’ Anyway, I spotted some fresh mint in store and it quickly found it’s way into my shopping basket.

Super Antioxidant Avocado Seed Smoothie
As we all know by now, avocados are one of the most delicious additions to any healthy diet. From smashed avo toast, to toppings on a colorful salad, or sneakily the main ingredient in chocolate mousse, this fruit has grown immensely in popularity over the last couple of years. But it’s the inner seed or ‘pit’ that seems to be getting more and more recognition lately for it’s surprisingly huge nutritional benefits. As if the creamy, smooth and delectable fruit wasn’t good enough, it’s center seed is actually a powerhouse of antioxidants all on it’s own. That’s where this Super Antioxidant Avocado Seed Smoothie comes into the limelight.

Liquid Sunshine Juice
It’s been a chilly last couple of days here at the bottom of the world (New Zealand), with some areas reaching record lows of -20degrees celcius! Here in Nelson, it’s also been cold, but thank goodness not -20 cold! It’s difficult to stay on top of your health in winter, nourishing your body with foods that help it to thrive through the cold snaps. I make a conscious effort of getting out in the glorious winters sunshine, to absorb as much Vitamin D as possible. This Liquid Sunshine Juice will help boost your energy during these chilly days. We’ve come to learn that the a fair amount of us are deficient…

Blueberry Bubblegum Smoothie
One of the many things I love about starting our new life in New Zealand, is discovering all the new foods, like the Feijoa fruit. They are an evergreen, perennial shrub that is typically grown as a fruiting tree. You can spot them in many people’s gardens here in Nelson, New Zealand. So I managed to get a bag of them, and before they turned I decided to freeze them. I added them in a smoothie and created this delicious concoction. The feijoa fruit are oval in shape and roughly 80mm long and a dull green color. The skin is thin and in the middle is a mass of translucent jelly-like pulp with small soft seeds.

This smoothie is a quick and delicious treat, as a mid-morning or afternoon snack to raise energy levels, and to satisfy a sweet tooth.
