Green-a-Colada Summer Smoothie
Thereβs nothing quite as refreshing as an ice cold pineapple flavored smoothie on a hot Summers day. Now throw some alkalizing green goodness into the mix, and viola! A Green-a-Colada Summer Smoothie is created. The perfect summer drink. With the creamy addition of coconut milk, the sweetness of the pineapple is subtly toned down into a perfectly delectable mixture of bold flavors that balance each other out beautifully. You actually can barely taste the Organic Barley Grass powder, which gives this smoothie its gorgeous green hue, as well as it’s super alkalizing and immune boosting benefits.

Savory Almond Carrot Biscuits
This week on the blog I chat about one of the most common root vegetable, yet rarely regarded as a nutrition powerhouse. If you haven’t guessed by now, it’s carrots. In this Savory Almond Carrot Biscuit recipe, I put a raw carrot powder to the test to see if I can create a savory biscuit, that leans towards savory, yet still has a slight natural sweetness. Vibrant, orange, ever so crunchy carrots. The magical vegetable that we all grew up understanding to have super “night-time-vision-enhancing” powers.

Zucchini Noodles with a Red Onion Leek and Avocado Sauce
The Spiralizer! One kitchen gadget that makes making food seriously fun! When I was still in South Africa, my best friends bought me one for my birthday and I used it nearly every week. Now that I’ve managed to get my hands on one again (thanks my love π and awesome 1-day.com deals) I’ve been creating Zucchini noodles and ‘noodling’ all week! I think it’s such a great way to get more nutrient dense raw vegetables into your diet. Granted you can cook the noodles to give more of a pasta ‘feel’, but eating them raw is just as great, if not better!

Carrot Date Bites
I think, of all the healthy sweet alternatives, dates have to be my number one favorite! My heart is ever so happy when I can get my grubby little paws on delicious Medjool dates, but when not, the regular cheaper dates are just as good! They’re such a versatile ingredient, and can be used in savory and sweet dishes and desserts. They’re also a great staple to have in the cupboard for when you feel like throwing something together to satisfy that sweet craving. These Carrot Date Bites are great to make for those such moments.

As Winter slowly dissipates, we welcome Spring with wide open arms! This time of year is the best! The warm jasmine scented air, the energizing sunshine, and the hustle and bustle of all those who are slowly coming out of hibernation. I love it! Liquid Sunshine Juice
It’s been a chilly last couple of days here at the bottom of the world (New Zealand), with some areas reaching record lows of -20degrees celcius! Here in Nelson, it’s also been cold, but thank goodness not -20 cold! It’s difficult to stay on top of your health in winter, nourishing your body with foods that help it to thrive through the cold snaps. I make a conscious effort of getting out in the glorious winters sunshine, to absorb as much Vitamin D as possible. This Liquid Sunshine Juice will help boost your energy during these chilly days. We’ve come to learn that the a fair amount of us are deficient…
