Apple Pecan Spelt Pastry Pies
Many of us will be busy with showing our love and appreciation towards our other halves this month, and I thought what better time to also focus on our own personal self-love. Adding some self love in the form of good nutrition, like with these Apple Pecan Spelt Pastry Pies, can not only make our bodies happy, they also make us feel good. Many of us tend to forget that we ourselves deserve endless amounts of self-love, to feel connected, to be grateful and to feel happy and alive. When you’re sending positive beautiful loving energy to your self, magic happens. And when you’re feeling down or sad, it’s amazing…

I love smoothies! They’re so quick, easy and I love the fact that you can add whatever you want to create a delicious meal/snack! This tropical spirulina smoothie recipe is definitely a winner! Apple Cinnamon Quinoa Porridge
Although we’re enveloped in this gorgeous sunny weather, it still can get a bit chilly in the early hours of the morning. There’s nothing better than a warm bowl of nourishing porridge to start the day with, warming the tum and giving you the sustained energy you need to do all the things you need to do before midday. This Apple Cinnamon Quinoa porridge will do just that! Fill you up and keep you going until your mid-morning snack, or even lunch! It consists of a handful of ingredients, and only takes a couple of minutes to make, which is a perfect combination for me!

Cinnamon Spiced Muffin Cookies
As I write this post, I’m finishing off a cup of delicious hot cinnamon spiced tea, that I have recently fallen in love with. I picked some up from The Hollow, Nelson and it’s this tea blend that I used in these cinnamon spiced muffin cookies. The tea has a very strong aroma of cinnamon, spices and cloves. I love this tea for a treat, as it is naturally very sweet, however I’ve found that the cinnamon sorts out any blood sugar fluctuations. Once a pot of this is brewing, you can’t resist scoffing on some sort of delicious treat, and that’s where these ‘muffin cookies’ shine!

Zucchini Banana Bread
I’ve been craving banana bread for quite some time now. I absolutely love it!!! I actually don’t know why it’s taken me so long to make some, but I found some inspiration, and this recipe was born. I wanted to boost the nutritional value of the loaf so, using a zucchini I had already in the fridge, I grated it and added it in. The great thing is that it really doesn’t alter the taste whatsoever. Adding vegetables into baked goodies is a great way to sneak those veggies into those fussy eaters diets π

Coco-Choc Bounty Tarts
I love everything coconut. From coconut oil to coconut water to freshly cracked whole coconuts! I’m Loco for Coco!!! These delicious Coco-Choc Bounty Tarts have to be one of my favorite recipes! They are so decadent, and the combination of chocolate and coconut is insanely scrumptious! With the added sweet nutty base, these tarts are like the average bounty bars (minus the bad stuff, loaded with good stuff) and taken to a whole other level!

Chocolate Energy Bliss Balls
Our lives are busy, and without even realizing it, they are super fast paced. Think about it – where the hell did July go?? In a blink it was gone! So, time fly’s by so quickly, we really need to try and make the most of every moment. The best way to do this is to have high energy levels, so that we have the ability to live our lives to the fullest. I believe that diet and lifestyle play a huge role in sustained energy, and this recipe is definitely one to get those energy levels up (and keep them there) when you need it. One of the massive…

Banana Breakfast Oats
Breakfast has to be one of my favorite meals of the day! And I’ll admit, I am such a creature of habit, and tend to have a handful of breakfast recipes which I juggle and alternate from. Obviously making them each unique with various different toppings, or what ever is in hands reach in the cupboard. Now, in South Africa I used to frequently buy gluten (wheat) free oats, but am battling to find them here in Nelson. I don’t have a gluten sensitivity, but I choose not to eat gluten containing foods often as I know the health implications. That being said my diet is pretty much gluten free,…
