Practicing Mindfulness
Practicing mindfulness is not only great for the soul, it allows a flood of calmness through the body, which can be great for those who tend to stress. With myself being a Type 1 Diabetic, a stressful mind can wreck havoc with my sugar levels, so I discovered an easy way to practice mindfulness that leaves me feeling satisfied, happy and ‘whole’ in a way π
I was recently inspired by freelance graphic designer Andrea Barras who heads the up the team at youbiscuit.co.za and the beautiful South African themed A1 coloring poster creation. I absolutely adore the poster and will definitely be trying to get my hands on one as soon as possible. All those who can get one, head on over to their site and hook yourself up. Coloring in is for ALL AGES!!!! And this South African inspired piece of Art is just too awesome!!!!
So with that inspiration already in my ‘inspiration tank’, I came across fatmumslim.com‘s Five of the Best Adult Coloring In Printables. With ink in the printer, I printed them all out and took a walk into town to find me some crayons.
What I discovered?
That coloring in is seriously such a meditative practice. Without even realizing it I was practicing mindfulness by being aware and present in the moment, and not too strayed by my river of thoughts. I felt instantly calm and collected and happy. How could I have forgotten this menial practice that filled up so much of my childhood years? I have no clue! but am damn happy to have rediscovered it.
So if you have a problem or difficulty with practicing mindfulness and meditation, hook yourself up with some crayons, download and print the printable posters, make a cuppa tea and get happy! You won’t be disappointed.
