Fresh Green Juice
So I know that this drink may look absolutely shocking, and most wouldn’t even dare putting it past their lips, but you cannot judge what you’ve never tried. It really is light, so refreshing and energizing.
The benefits of green (and other vegetable juices) are endless. Firstly, you’ll need to have a juicer in order to make green juices, and this juicer extracts the liquid from your fruits and veggies and removes all the fiber.
Juices are easier to digest and assimilate. It’s easier to digest nutrients. This allows your body to absorb the nutrients quicker without having to expend energy to digest all the bulk of the fiber too. Itβs the easiest way to get phytonutrients in their most absorbable form because the concentrated nutrients go straight into your bloodstream.
Green juices are EXTREMELY alkaline (and trust me, you need alkaline to balance out the acidity from acidic food we eat). They are great to regulate your digestive system and aid big time with weight loss as they’re low in calories. Green juice will give you a quick energy boost as it has a high concentration of veggies and therefore nutrients, and it’s great as it’s in a pre-digested format for quicker nutrient absorption.
Ingredients
- 1 big bunch of Spinach –
- 1 Large green apple
- 1 whole cucumber
- 1 Large lemon
- 1 knob of ginger – about the size of two thumb nails
Recipe
All veggie must be cleaned thoroughly before. I clean my veggies in apple cider vinegar diluted with water. So clean all you’re veggies, and set aside. Chop up into smaller bits, depending on the size of the feeder in your juicer. Some can be small so you’ll need to chop smaller. Generally I chop my apples into quarters, lemons into eighths (their hard skins tend to be a bit rough in the juicer, so the smaller the better) and so on.
So start feeding the ingredients through the juicer until all juiced. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, you can add another apple. I like to then dilute the final product with water and ice. They are delish ice ice cold.
TIP – Line the juice pulp trough with a plastic bag. This makes it a lot easier when cleaning. Remember you can use this pulp a second time through the machine if you feel there is still some juice to get out of it. Bearing in mind this can get a little messy. Alternatively feed it to the earth, it’s great for compost heaps.
