Chocolate Nana-Nice Cream
I love chocolate! And I am so so so grateful that Raw Cacao is so delicious and so incredibly good for you. Boasting a truck load of amazing health benefits, the perfect Superfood has become a staple in my kitchen cupboard. From raw vegan cheesecakes, to raw bliss balls, to a warm cup of healthy hot chocolate, it definitely has a very special place in my heart!
It also happens to be one of the 3 ingredients used to create this delicious refined sugar free, vegan Chocolate Nana-Nice Cream.
I am a great believer in balance. Balance in life is extremely important. To avoid beating yourself up, balance in your diet is key. Although I follow a healthy plant based diet, free from refined sugar, gluten, preservatives, processed foods and other nasties, I still tend to be incredibly critical about what I eat, and tend to also be very hard on myself.
Eating one too many dates, or that cheeky decaf soy cappuccino, or that indulgence of raw sugar free chocolate, to flattening that jar of almond butter in record time, my ‘Mean Girl‘ pops into my head (as Melissa Ambrosisni has taught me) and I’ll criticize myself and feel so guilty!
Not all the time though, and that’s where balance comes into the picture. If I learn to allow myself those healthy indulgences, embrace the moment in which I consume them, be Oh! So! grateful for their deliciousness, and just completely enjoy them, I feel so much better in the end! I acknowledge that it’s not a habit, that it only happens occasionally, and that it’s actually okay! The goodness in my diet will balance out the cheeky indulgences, and an equilibrium will be reached.
This kind of practice can be taken into many other situations in our lives. If you’re having a bad day, feeling down or lazy and lacking enthusiasm and energy, just ride the wave. Just accept that we all have those type of days. They don’t happen often, and it’s actually okay.
Embrace them, lie in bed sipping herbal teas and reading magazines all day, or whatever you feel like doing, and just completely submerge yourself in the situation, remaining present. You’ll feel better by the end of the day, I guarantee you. You’ll have rested, and not have beaten yourself up, letting your ‘Mean Girl’ take over. Tomorrow you’ll awake and get on with your life, energize yourself and carry on without the burden of having that ‘once-in-a-while’ day off!
So, now, back to this tasty and incredibly easy recipe. Easy would actually be an understatement on how little effort this actually needs! This means it’s quick, easy, delicious and completely healthy! A banana ice cream with a chocolaty twist that’ll excite your taste buds and satisfy your sweet tooth.
- 2 Large Frozen Bananas (Peeled and chopped into chunks)
- 1 - 2 TBS Raw Cacao
- Nut Milk of choice to blend (I used Almond Milk)
- Place your frozen banana chunks into a high speed blender
- Add the raw cacao and about 4 TBS of Nut Milk to begin with
- Blend until you reach a thick smooth mixture, adding more nut milk if need be. You may need to use your blender tamper to push the banana down into the blades.
- Serve and indulge immediately
- You could add more nut milk to turn it into a smoothie/chocolate milk-free milkshake (if desired)
