Governors Bay Foreshore Track Walk
I’ve been wanting to start a series on the blog sharing some of nature walks that I love, in and around the city. When we moved to Christchurch, I immediately began researching all the tracks close to me to explore, and this Governors Bay Foreshore Track was one of them. So, one morning, I packed up my camera and took a drive to see what I could find.

My Vegetable Garden
Hi friends! Lets start by reconnecting as it’s been a long long time since I’ve added anything to this little online space of mine. What better way than to update you on my vegetable garden. So, shall we start with our big life change? We’ve moved cities! Immigrating is one thing, but moving cities after you’ve immigrated and been in one for 6 years is a whole different kettle of fish. Nick and I moved further down the South Island of New Zealand, to beautiful Christchurch. You may have heard of this humble city from it’s shadow of a massive M6.2 earthquake that crippled it and it’s people to their…

The Benefits of Tongue Scraping
For the past few weeks I have been trialling out the practice of tongue scraping. As we know digestion begins in the mouth, it’s important for us to take care of our oral health as it plays a large role in our overall wellbeing. Scraping the tongue daily removes any build-up on the tongue, which, if left untreated, can lead to bad breath and may house a significant number of bacteria. This build up can often look like a coating on your tongue and it generally consists of undigested food and drink particles, which can lead to a build up of bacteria. This film that builds up can often compromise the digestive and immune systems…

Dentiste’ Nighttime Toothpaste Review
It’s good to be back in the swing of things after our recent trip back to South Africa. Apologies for the lack of presence on the blog – but I’m back and ready to have fun in the kitchen and share some delicious plant based recipes and wellness related tidbits. For this post, I’m reviewing the Dentiste’ Nighttime Toothpaste. I was generously sent this awesome little package only a couple of weeks ago, and already I can feel the difference it’s made!

Pelorus Bridge Camping Adventure
While I love sharing my healthy recipes on the blog, I also like to share tidbits of my life including the beautiful places we adventure to. This week I wanted to share our recent camping adventure to Pelorus Bridge Scenic Reserve. Taking photographs of the delicious recipes created for this blog is so rewarding. However, I also have so much fun capturing the beauty of nature, especially in this magical country. For this getaway, I decided to bring the camera with and collect a couple of images of our various walks around the area. It was a glorious and hot summers day, and there was heaps of visitors at the…

The Healing Power of Nature
I am a firm believer in the healing power of nature. I have always loved being in nature, even from a little girl. Growing up on a farm meant endless adventures with my brother, exploring all that we could. From mud fights in the dam, to building forts in the pine forest, to family walks up the mountain. All of these experiences, and many more, became the foundation of my love for nature. The healing aspect of nature is one that continues to fascinate me, as more and more research shows us the efficacy that nature has on healing the mind, body and spirit.

Venus Williams On Plant-Based Diets
Tennis star Venus Williams is undoubtedly one of the most impressive athletes of her generation (or perhaps of a few generations). Born in California in 1980, she famously rose to professional tennis at a time when the sport was still primarily white. Showing talent early on and pushed by her competitive father, Williams turned pro in 1994 at the age of 14, though she didnβt really find success until a few years later. By the late-90s she was beginning to rack up deep runs in tennisβs biggest tournaments, en route to the 7 Grand Slam titles she owns today.

My Favorite Wellness with Taryn Recipes
This week on the blog I thought I’d share a couple of my favorite recipes so far. Sifting through archives and reminiscing on past dishes has been quite wonderful, therapeutic in a way. A stroll down memory lane is always good. These recipes range from sweet to savory and are in no particular order. One thing that gathering all these recipes has made me realize is how much time, effort and hard work I’ve poured into this blog. Not that it feels like work at all!

Natural Homemade Deodorant
One thing I am so passionate about is natural deodorant, and have converted a fair few people to using alternative natural deodorants as opposed to main stream ones. Embracing natural beauty and all it has to offer, is so exciting and quite liberating when you begin to realize how much less your exposing your cells to. This post is all about the Natural Homemade Deodorant I make and have been making for the last 4-5 years. Tried and tested over and over again, it really is my go to deodorant choice – one that I know works so well, only has a handful of ingredients and is so incredibly affordable.

Healthy Habits You Need to Put in Place to Ease Stress
Anxiety. Irritability. Panic. Anger. Fear. These are just a few of the symptoms of stress that creep up on us so deviously, and they can be so damn hard to avoid! In this day and age, life is so busy and fast paced that stress has become an all too common ‘ailment’. With so many things going on, how can we slow down and focus on enjoying our lives, rather than rushing through them?
