Warming Turmeric Latte
That moment when you think ‘Whawhaaattt!’, where has this been all my life? Well, my friends, that’s the moment I had after making (and tasting) this super yummy Warming Turmeric Latte. I could seriously sit and drink this all day. It’s so soothing and warming and hits all the right flavor notes. The scent of warming cinnamon and cardamom wafting through the house alone is so inviting and so relaxing! It’s the best on a cold day and we’ve had some pretty chilly mornings and evenings lately. I certainly am looking forward to Spring which seems to be more and more evident these days. There are currently blossoms outside our kitchen window and…

Sweet Potato Fries
These past few weeks have been so busy, I’m slowly settling back into my normal routine. These Sweet Potato Fries are one of the quick and easy meals/side dishes I’ve been making while being so occupied. At the end of June I flew to Auckland for training and stayed in the most posh hotel. Truly felt like royalty and the view of the city skyline was incredible. We then had a friend over from South Africa at the beginning of July and had an amazing three weeks exploring this beautiful country with him. From skiing at Mt Hutt in Christchurch to the incredibly scenic West Coast of the South Island hustle…

Favorite Food Blogs (Part 2)
Following on from my previous post, here I’ll share some of my favorite food blogs to peruse and get inspiration from. Now, if you’re anything like me, and your inbox is constantly overflowing with subscriptions from tonnes of other food bloggers, you’ll understand how exciting it is to browse the creations of other bloggers and picking up nuggets of inspiration along the way. I think for the main part, the photography entices me the most. Having pretty much taught myself, I’m always looking out for hints and tips on how to improve my photography.

Blueberry Chickpea Flour Pancakes
Sunday 31 July marks the 5th year I’ve been living thriving with Type 1 Diabetes (My Diaversary). It seems like just the other day I was embarking on my wellness journey, after being admitted into ICU and subsequently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. What a journey it has been! Although here I discuss my condition and while it is a serious subject, I wanted to balance this post by sharing this celebratory Blueberry Chickpea Flour Pancake recipe, that is truly so delicious!!! These 5 years have been so full! Full of learning, full of managing, full of adapting, full of growing, full of life! Each day has unfolded with new challenges, which in turn have…

My New eBook – Fun Food
It is so very exciting to announce and release my new eBook, Fun Food, which has been such fun creating and designing. Fun Food was born when a lovely friend of mine asked for some help with her daughters diet. As her daughter happens to be my (Wellness with Taryn’s) ‘biggest little fan’ I was instantly inspired and excited to share my knowledge in a format that would hopefully be easy enough for her to grasp. It’s pages are colorful and vibrant which I hope would be enticing for her little eyes.

Favorite Food Blogs (Part 1)
I’ve been meaning to write this post for ages! I LOVE reading about other bloggers and their favorite blogs, so I though why not share mine. Scrolling through other sites that are full of mouth watering recipes (most of which are aligned with my way of eating), bright and vibrant photographs that instantly inspire me and the thoughtfully written posts that allow the reader to be immersed into a twined tale of where, when and how a recipe was created. I just love it!

Zucchini Noodles with a Red Onion Leek and Avocado Sauce
The Spiralizer! One kitchen gadget that makes making food seriously fun! When I was still in South Africa, my best friends bought me one for my birthday and I used it nearly every week. Now that I’ve managed to get my hands on one again (thanks my love π and awesome 1-day.com deals) I’ve been creating Zucchini noodles and ‘noodling’ all week! I think it’s such a great way to get more nutrient dense raw vegetables into your diet. Granted you can cook the noodles to give more of a pasta ‘feel’, but eating them raw is just as great, if not better!

Sweet Potato Chocolate Tahini Fudge
There comes a time in our month, week or day that we long for a bit of indulgence. These cravings can be mild or full blown, and when the latter is evident, it’s great to have a healthy decadent option on hand to satisfy those needs. Now, I never quite realized how many delicious options there are when making a healthy refined sugar free treat. The internet has exploded with Instagram pictures that’ll make you literally salivate and that’s just the brunt of it! The amount of creative deliciousness that’s out there is astounding, and this inspires me to no end!

Wild Mushroom and Leek Risotto
In the midst of Winter, one cannot resist complete comfort food! This urge for complete belly euphoria inspired me to create a vegan version of a rather popular dish – Risotto! I cannot believe how great this recipe turned out! As I write this it’s a cold and miserable day outside and all I can think about is having one more forkful of this truly scrumptious meal! The flavors are wildly bold, enlightening each taste bud with every mouthful! This Wild Mushroom and Leek Risotto is most certainly an indulgent winter dish!

Breakfast Quinoa Porridge
Quinoa has to be one of my favorite grains! (that technically is not a grain but in fact a seed!) It’s versatility alone makes it extremely favorable and it’s almost nutty flavor adds is so delicious. Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner this Aztec ‘superfood’ can be paired with a variety of foods. I decided to create an updated Quinoa Porridge recipe and share how I’ve been loving this grain in the mornings. I’ve found it gives me so much more energy than say regular oats, and I think gluten may be one of the reasons. I tend to tolerate oats, but have noticed quite a difference in my overall energy…
