Earth Friendly Body, Home and Living Products (Ecostore Product Review)

When you start becoming aware of what your putting in your body, you’ll begin to take a closer look at what your putting on your body and what products you use around your home. Once I started doing a bit of research into what effects these unpronounceable ingredients have on our bodies and our environment, my eyes grew big and I actually had to take a moment. How can a society be using these toxic and harmful ingredients in so many commonly used products. It definitely warped my mind.

So with this new found knowledge I decided to clean out all my toxic chemical laden beauty, bath and home products. I urge you to have a peruse through yours, and become aware of all the chemicals you are coming into contact with on a daily basis. So out with the old and in with the new. Where to begin???

While still in South Africa, I did a lot of research into earth friendly, vegan, plant-based products, and was quite shocked at how many products there actually are out there. All you have to do is look 🙂

I found that a lot of the health shops stock these alternatives, from shampoo to dish washing liquid. If you are in South Africa, pop into your nearest health shop and have a look. There are also an array of wonderful online health stores that sell divine ranges. Finally, if you’re still stumped, why not make your own. You’ll be surprised as you probably have all the ingredients already to do so. Have your trusty friend Google available, and go wild. A few bases are bicarbonate of soda, apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon, and you can scent them with your choice of essential oils. It’s such fun!

With our big move to New Zealand, I had to start from scratch, but was so eager to see what was available here. That’s when I stumbled across this amazing range from Ecostore. Not only are they plant based and earth friendly, they are surprisingly affordable and have all avenues covered. From body care, to home and living, to garden, they really have covered all bases. So I have started my own little collection, which I’d like to share with you.

Hand Wash

First we have the Ecostore Hand Wash – Orange and Patchouli. It is wonderful, works really well without drying out your skin. The scent orange and patchouli is incredible. Such a lovely combination! It leaves your hands clean and fresh and ‘nasty chemical’ free!

The hand wash comes in a lovely dispenser, which is able to close making it super handy!

Shampoo and Conditioner

Next we have the Ecostore Shampoo and Conditioner range. I tried the ‘Normal’ range first when I arrived, to see if I enjoyed it. I really really did! I love how the shampoo doesn’t dry my hair out, and the conditioner really feels like it’s nourishing my hair. I’ve recently moved over to the ‘Dry. Damaged or Coloured’ range and am thoroughly enjoying it. I think it’s far better suited for my hair type.

The shampoo and conditioner range smells divine, and leaves you feeling refreshed. Their containers are so easy to use. and are not too bulky, which is great for travelling.

Body Moisturiser

Next we have the Ecostore Baby Moisturiser. Yes! They even have a baby range! Wicked right? Now I’m no baby, and don’t have a sprout of my own either, but I figured if this lotion is good enough for a delicate baby’s skin, it’s good enough for mine. I absolutely adore it! It is so light, and absorbs really well, leaving no sticky residue. It has a very subtle scent, which I like. It is plant-based and made with jojoba and coconut oil, which combine really well together. I really do enjoy this lotion, and if I had a sprout, I would have no problem at all with using this on them.

The container is perfectly sized, and super easy to open and close. I find this quite an important factor when choosing body lotions, as you generally use a substantial amount each time, and a difficult-to-hold container can only lead to a mess. This one is great! Again, highly recommended!

Multi-Purpose Cleaner

I love love love this Ecostore Multi-Purpose Cleaner, and use it to clean pretty much every surface I can. It’s scent is amazing!, leaving everywhere smelling wonderful and naturally clean. It does not dry out your skin, when in contact, and works wonderfully. It leaves no residue marks, leaving surfaces looking clean and shiny, and smelling great. I use this in the kitchen and in the bathroom too, mainly because I love the scent! Ecostore also has a bathroom cleaning range, which I am yet to try, but this spray works really well in the interim.

This product comes in a super easy to use spray container, and contains no nasty chemicals, leaving you able to rest assured your kitchen counters are not laden with a toxic chemicals, but are clean and smell divine!

This range of products is really wonderful, and from the experience I’ve had with the few I have tried, I am certainly one happy customer. Another amazing point is that pretty much all the product containers unscrew, and refills are available. Even bulk refill containers are available for large scale requirements. How amazing is that! I love it!
