Dentiste’ Nighttime Toothpaste Review

It’s good to be back in the swing of things after our recent trip back to South Africa. Apologies for the lack of presence on the blog – but I’m back and ready to have fun in the kitchen and share some delicious plant based recipes and wellness related tidbits.

For this post, I’m reviewing the Dentiste’ Nighttime Toothpaste. I was generously sent this awesome little package only a couple of weeks ago, and already I can feel the difference it’s made!

I’d normally wait a few more weeks to fully trial the product – but I can honestly say I really am enjoying it, so why not share it sooner?

“This toothpaste is fluoride free, and is powered by premium natural ingredients that work together to fight oral bacteria, helping people to have fresh morning breath while taking superior care of their oral hygiene.” Source

I found it not to be ‘chalky’ at all, which I do find to be the case with some natural toothpastes. It’s consistency is thick and dense – which is probably due to the fact of all the goodness that goes into this product.

14 Natural extracts including natural antiseptics and antibacterials that help prevent oral bacteria, gum diseases and bad breath.

It leaves your mouth feeling tingly, fresh and minty. Minty, did I mention minty – so beautifully clean and minty. I do love the ‘aftertaste’, and can instantly feel my teeth feel smoother and cleaner after using it. Especially if I rub my tongue along the inside of my bottom row of teeth – super sparkling clean I tell ya!

I use it morning and night and love it! I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the market for a natural alternative toothpaste that actually works – or if you’re looking to switch up your dental routine. Head on over to their site and have a browse, I’m so keen to try the Dentiste’ Oral Rinse – looks so great and I’ve battled to find a natural mouthwash in Nelson. They also offer free shipping for orders over $25 – bonus!

Other Ingreditents

  • Xylitol: A natural sweetener found in fruits and vegetables that odour-producing bacteria cannot feed on, so it helps decrease the growth of oral bacteria.
  • CDX (Cyclodextrin Complex): Helps eliminate bad morning breath by trapping bad smell and prolonging fresh breath.
  • Silica Complex: Micronised silica complex helps get rid of plaque without destroying natural tooth enamel.
  • Stable Vitamin C: An antioxidant that protects cells against damage and heals wounds for healthier gums. Source

Focus on Dental Health

Dentists are ‘hella’ expensive here in New Zealand, so I honestly don’t go as often as I should, but I try stick to home practices to keep my mouth clean and healthy. What does this consist of?
  • Oil Pulling
  • Salt water rinses
  • and recently – Tongue Scraping (Stay tuned to the blog for my post coming soon on Tongue Scraping)

Why Dental Hygiene and Diabetes is so Important

Problems with teeth and gums can be more common for people with diabetes, so good dental health is important to prevent dental complications developing.  Poor blood glucose control leads to bacteria growth (bacteria loves a sweet environment) and increases the risk of infections.

Gum disease, also known as periodontitis, is the sixth most common disease in the world. It occurs when bacteria within the mouth begins to form into a sticky plaque which sits on the surface of the tooth. So a strict and regular dental hygiene routine is key, especially for Diabetics.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know below what your dental hygiene routine consists of?
