Although we’re enveloped in this gorgeous sunny weather, it still can get a bit chilly in the early hours of the morning. There’s nothing better than a warm bowl of nourishing porridge to start the day with, warming the tum and giving you the sustained energy you need to do all the things you need to do before midday. This Apple Cinnamon Quinoa porridge will do just that! Fill you up and keep you going until your mid-morning snack, or even lunch! It consists of a handful of ingredients, and only takes a couple of minutes to make, which is a perfect combination for me! Continue reading
The ‘Sushi train’ has been an undeniable ‘hit’ in mainstream modern society for quite some time now. Over the last decade is has exploded globally, with Sushi restaurants and takes outs popping up all over the place, with local supermarkets jumping on board and stocking the prepacked containers for our ease.
Such a delightful finger food (as I still have not mastered the art of chop sticks), and so appealing to the eye, I set out to recreate a healthier vegan version, based along similar principles of the traditional Japanese sushi.
I succeeded, with these delicious Vegan Sushi Rolls, which are so easy and are such fun and incredibly tasty to say the least! Continue reading
I’ve been craving banana bread for quite some time now. I absolutely love it!!! I actually don’t know why it’s taken me so long to make some, but I found some inspiration, and this recipe was born. I wanted to boost the nutritional value of the loaf so, using a zucchini I had already in the fridge, I grated it and added it in. The great thing is that it really doesn’t alter the taste whatsoever. Adding vegetables into baked goodies is a great way to sneak those veggies into those fussy eaters diets 😉 Continue reading
I love everything coconut. From coconut oil to coconut water to freshly cracked whole coconuts! I’m Loco for Coco!!! These delicious Coco-Choc Bounty Tarts have to be one of my favorite recipes! They are so decadent, and the combination of chocolate and coconut is insanely scrumptious! With the added sweet nutty base, these tarts are like the average bounty bars (minus the bad stuff, loaded with good stuff) and taken to a whole other level!
Our lives are busy, and without even realizing it, they are super fast paced. Think about it – where the hell did July go?? In a blink it was gone! So, time fly’s by so quickly, we really need to try and make the most of every moment. The best way to do this is to have high energy levels, so that we have the ability to live our lives to the fullest. I believe that diet and lifestyle play a huge role in sustained energy, and this recipe is definitely one to get those energy levels up (and keep them there) when you need it.
One of the massive things I’ve noticed since I changed my diet and my lifestyle is the huge increase in sustained energy levels. Now don’t get me wrong, we all have ‘those’ kind of days where we can’t be arsed to do anything. Be it hormones or whatever, at the end of the day we are all human. Despite this, my energy levels have been awesome! Continue reading
These days, with all the hype around the whirlwind of different diets/eating plans/lifestyle guides/’what-ever-you-want-to-call-them‘, it’s hard for me to keep up, let alone the person who’s tilting towards a healthier lifestyle and looking for a helpful guide. From vegan to raw vegan to vegetarian to paleo to banting to 80/10/10 to Raw til 4, this list carries on and on. Whether you’re looking for a diet that suits a gluten intolerance, or are seriously considering refraining from eating animals, there are so many inspiring people out there with bucket of knowledge and helpful advice to suit your specific requirements. What I encourage my clients is to find what feels right for their body. Get to know yourself, and how certain foods react with you. Find what feels good. I promote plant based lifestyle that is free from refined sugar, gluten and processed foods. Keeping it natural and nutritious.
With that being said, I created this delicious dish, that is my take on the traditional Tabbouleh. This one, however, is grain and gluten free, accommodating those with gluten intolerance, paleo diets as well as the banting masses. Continue reading
Experimenting in the kitchen with different fruits can be exciting and challenging. For me, playing with the New Zealand Feijoa fruit has been incredibly fun. Coming from South Africa, I had never ever heard of such fruit, never mind tasting it. So I was ‘over the moon’ excited to try out this cute little odd shaped fruit, especially being someone who loves trying different fruits and vegetables. I instantly fell in love with the flavor, and that was me, hooked 🙂 So you can imagine how happy I was when a lovely friend blessed me with a whole bag full of the funny little fruits, straight off the tree from her friends farm. So incredibly grateful was I!
Having literally zero carbon footprint, and falling into the ‘eat local’ where possible category, I had to put my thinking cap on to decide what I’d make with so many delicious Feijoa’s. I came up with a tasty muffin recipe. Best of all it’s vegan friendly, gluten free, refined sugar free and dairy free! Whoop whoop!!! Continue reading

With Easter around the corner, lots of you will be entertaining or visiting family, and these muffins are a perfect accompany to any family tea. They’re a healthy alternative to store bought, sugar laden muffins, and are sweetened with dates and raisins. They’re full of fiber and are very very ‘moreish’!
If you’re like me, and love that little mid-morning or afternoon pick-me-up-snack and a cuppa tea, then you’ll love this recipe, because these muffins really hit the snack attack spot. They contain affordable ingredients, so are great if you’re on a budget.
I am a great chickpea (AKA Garbanzos) fan, as most vegan’s and vegetarians are. From chickpea flour, to chickpea sprouts, these little gems are so versatile in the kitchen and are loaded with some mad nutritional goodness. This Falafel Salad is a great choice for a light summers lunch or dinner. You can have the falafel balls warm or cold, totally up to you. A quick and easy nutritious salad option.
