The health and wellness sphere can be quite confusing at times. These last few weeks I’ve been mixing up my diet a little, and opting for a more ‘high-fat/low-carb/keto‘ approach. I can honestly say that I’ve felt such a difference in only a short period of time. Initially the whole idea seemed a little out of balance to me. However having done more research into this way of eating (and feeling some the benefits), I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

The thing with healthy eating is to be prepared. One way to be prepared is having loads of snacks and healthy treats available to avoid yourself from caving in to unhealthy temptations. That’s why I like to always have ‘ready made’ snacks and treats on hand, to curb those cravings and satisfy them with a healthy alternative that, at the same time, is nourishing my body.

While there is much speculation around the whole ‘soy’ topic, and the fact that genetically modified soy beans are penetrating more and more of the global soy markets, there are still loads of health benefits in fermented soy products. Containing less anti-nutrients, fermented soy products, like Miso, have an array of nutritional benefits and can have a positive effect on so many bodily systems.

I know what you’re probably thinking when looking at this title image – Blood splatter/Dexter crime scene? Right? Thankfully it’s not! It’s just a little Blueberry CHIA drink, beautifully exhibited on my kitchen counter. When the lovely peeps from CHIA sent through some of their delicious drinks, it was time to get creative and play!
Now blueberries are one of my staples in the kitchen. They’re so incredibly delicious, loaded with antioxidants and the perfect snack being not too high in sugar. I always have a bag of frozen blueberries in the freezer, and generally like to have them in breakfasts, as well as with coconut yoghurt as an after dinner sweet treat. I must admit, I was a bit apprehensive about this recipe, and how it would turn out. The thought of combining green tea with porridge did seem rather strange, but my curiosity got the better of me and I’m so glad it did. I was so lucky enough to receive this Repower Green Tea from Artemis, and that was it! Inspiration levels were high and the ball began rolling in the direction of a recipe success!
I’ve loved green tea from the first time I tasted it, and I believe it really helped to boost my metabolism and curb my taste buds when I initially started my health journey. It would be my go to drink wherever we were. A substitute that would be my crutch, contributing to my health at the same time. This Antioxidant Green Tea Porridge recipe brought back all those memories, and reminded me of how strong willed I was. It’s Easter weekend and I’m slowly slipping into this well awaited break/4 day weekend. I can’t quite believe that we’re a third of the way through the year already, but I’m feeling happy with how this year is shaping out. We have an exciting trip back to South Africa planned in October, which I am so happy about. I cannot wait to see my family and friends.
