With Summer weather making more and more of an appearance, and temperatures rising, I thought it a great idea to post a smoothie recipe. This time of year I feel more inclined to eat less dense heavy foods, and rather opt for salads, steamed greens and smoothies. A regular query, which I’m sure most plant based eaters can relate with, is “Where do you get all your protein from if you don’t eat meat?” And what most don’t understand is that there is an abundance of protein in plants, seeds, grains, etc. All you need is a little education on what to combine in order to get a complete protein profile. That moment when you think ‘Whawhaaattt!’, where has this been all my life?
Well, my friends, that’s the moment I had after making (and tasting) this super yummy Warming Turmeric Latte. I could seriously sit and drink this all day. It’s difficult to stay on top of your health in winter, nourishing your body with foods that help it to thrive through the cold snaps. I make a conscious effort of getting out in the glorious winters sunshine, to absorb as much Vitamin D as possible. This Liquid Sunshine Juice will help boost your energy during these chilly days.
We’ve come to learn that the a fair amount of us are deficient in Vitamin D, so keeping these levels high is not only key to health during winter, but can really make a difference in our overall moods. SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is a reality for alot of people, and an increase in the correct vitamins and minerals through diet and supplementation can really help this disorder. I also try really hard to stay as active as I can. Continue reading
