While I love sharing my healthy recipes on the blog, I also like to share tidbits of my life including the beautiful places we adventure to. This week I wanted to share our recent camping adventure to Pelorus Bridge Scenic Reserve. Taking photographs of the delicious recipes created for this blog is so rewarding. However, I also have so much fun capturing the beauty of nature, especially in this magical country.
For this getaway, I decided to bring the camera with and collect a couple of images of our various walks around the area. It was a glorious and hot summers day, and there was heaps of visitors at the Pelorus Bridge jumping off the rocks and swimming below. The sense of excitement immediately evolved, as I recalled childhood memories of playing and tubing down rivers with friends. Continue reading
I am a firm believer in the healing power of nature. I have always loved being in nature, even from a little girl. Growing up on a farm meant endless adventures with my brother, exploring all that we could.
From mud fights in the dam, to building forts in the pine forest, to family walks up the mountain. All of these experiences, and many more, became the foundation of my love for nature.
The healing aspect of nature is one that continues to fascinate me, as more and more research shows us the efficacy that nature has on healing the mind, body and spirit. Continue reading
Tennis star Venus Williams is undoubtedly one of the most impressive athletes of her generation (or perhaps of a few generations). Born in California in 1980, she famously rose to professional tennis at a time when the sport was still primarily white. Showing talent early on and pushed by her competitive father, Williams turned pro in 1994 at the age of 14, though she didn’t really find success until a few years later. By the late-90s she was beginning to rack up deep runs in tennis’s biggest tournaments, en route to the 7 Grand Slam titles she owns today. Continue reading
This week on the blog I thought I’d share a couple of my favorite recipes so far. Sifting through archives and reminiscing on past dishes has been quite wonderful, therapeutic in a way. A stroll down memory lane is always good. These recipes range from sweet to savory and are in no particular order.
One thing that gathering all these recipes has made me realize is how much time, effort and hard work I’ve poured into this blog. Not that it feels like work at all! Continue reading
One thing I am so passionate about is natural deodorant, and have converted a fair few people to using alternative natural deodorants as opposed to main stream ones. Embracing natural beauty and all it has to offer, is so exciting and quite liberating when you begin to realize how much less your exposing your cells to.
This post is all about the Natural Homemade Deodorant I make and have been making for the last 4-5 years. Tried and tested over and over again, it really is my go to deodorant choice – one that I know works so well, only has a handful of ingredients and is so incredibly affordable. Continue reading
Anxiety. Irritability. Panic. Anger. Fear. These are just a few of the symptoms of stress that creep up on us so deviously, and they can be so damn hard to avoid! In this day and age, life is so busy and fast paced that stress has become an all too common ‘ailment’.
With so many things going on, how can we slow down and focus on enjoying our lives, rather than rushing through them? Continue reading
I love herbal teas! I’ve been a ‘green-tea-kinda-gal’ for a while now but since moving to NZ, and discovering all the amazing herbal teas here, I’ve tried and tested a few. I love The Hollow’s selection of teas, and I know they’re of great quality. I especially love the Orange Rooibos they have, cooled into an ice tea with loads of fresh mint and fruit. So refreshing on a hot day!
There’s a few supermarket brand I love too, like the Plant Organic Female Balance tea bags. I really love the flavor of this, and especially enjoy it in the morning with my breakfast. But taking a few steps up in the ‘tea-ladder’ comes Artemis. “Artemis is New Zealand owned and operated and exists to harness the power of traditional plant medicine. Continue reading
This week I thought I’d do something a little different on the blog, by sharing some of the products I’ve been loving recently.
I always love reading other wellness bloggers and finding out what interesting goodies they’ve been using. I find it quite inspiring and really interesting so why not share what I’ve been using?
They range from tea to superfoods to self tan, and are all natural and eco-friendly. So grab a mug of tea, nestle down and get cosy. Continue reading
Following on from my previous post, here I’ll share some of my favorite food blogs to peruse and get inspiration from.
Now, if you’re anything like me, and your inbox is constantly overflowing with subscriptions from tonnes of other food bloggers, you’ll understand how exciting it is to browse the creations of other bloggers and picking up nuggets of inspiration along the way.
I think for the main part, the photography entices me the most. Having pretty much taught myself, I’m always looking out for hints and tips on how to improve my photography. Continue reading
It is so very exciting to announce and release my new eBook, Fun Food, which has been such fun creating and designing. Fun Food was born when a lovely friend of mine asked for some help with her daughters diet.
As her daughter happens to be my (Wellness with Taryn’s) ‘biggest little fan’ I was instantly inspired and excited to share my knowledge in a format that would hopefully be easy enough for her to grasp. It’s pages are colorful and vibrant which I hope would be enticing for her little eyes.
