I am a firm believer in the healing power of nature. I have always loved being in nature, even from a little girl. Growing up on a farm meant endless adventures with my brother, exploring all that we could.
From mud fights in the dam, to building forts in the pine forest, to family walks up the mountain. All of these experiences, and many more, became the foundation of my love for nature.
The healing aspect of nature is one that continues to fascinate me, as more and more research shows us the efficacy that nature has on healing the mind, body and spirit. Continue reading
I’ve been meaning to post this adventure for ages now! So I’m so glad it’s finally happening! Nick and I decided to take a trip to Christchurch for his birthday in the beginning of December last year.
Keen and eager to explore more of this beautiful country, we packed our bags, arose bright and early and set off on our road trip adventure to the the renowned city of Christchurch. Continue reading
This Valentines Day (well technically the day before), Nick and I decided to treat each other to an awesome experience, an adventure. I have been dying to visit a waterfall, so I did some googling and found Wainui Falls, in the renowned Abel Tasman National Park. Now Nick and I haven’t done much exploring in the Abel Tasman National Park yet, which is crazy (I know!) as it’s one of the main tourist attractions in the area. We’re just not really kitted out for tramping and camping just yet, but we’ll get there!
So this walk was perfect as the drive there was roughly 2 hours from Nelson, and the walk itself wasn’t long at all, so it was the perfect choice for our Valentines adventure! Continue reading
I was scrolling through social media one morning, as you do, and I came across Nicola Galloway’s Instagram post on how she’d just visited Fuchsiadale Blueberries and picked a glorious amount of locally grown blueberries. I was so excited and instantly inspired to go on a berry picking bonanza!
We were hankering for a little adventure, one that was not too far away, but still beautiful and invigorating. We racked our brains (and Google) and decided on Gardens of the World in Hope. As it’s Spring and flowers are in bloom all over, these gardens were sure to have some beautiful images for us to enjoy and capture. Continue reading
Since moving to New Zealand, our sense of adventure has sky rocketed. With so many outstandingly beautiful places to experience, there’s always a place to go on the weekends. So that’s what we like to do. Adventure off, into the distance. With the sunroof open and the sun shining down on us! Wind in our hair and eyes wide open. Experiencing all that this beautiful country has to offer. Pupu Springs & Fairwell Spit was our next destination of choice. Continue reading
I absolutely loved this little adventure up Takaka Hill (New Zealand). We woke up early, filled our bellies, and set off. In the middle of winter, you can imagine how crisp and chilly the morning air was, but it was magical.
We took a relaxed drive through Richmond, Motueka and Riwaka, and at the bottom of Takaka Hill we stopped to take a look at the river. The frost covered ground was absolutely stunning!
There’s something about a chilly winters morning that can invigorate and awaken you, well it does for me. The fresh air is somewhat energizing, and this energy fueled my excitement for the rest of the trip.
The grass and plants were covered in the most beautiful frost! Really so beautiful to capture! Mother nature never ceases to amaze me with her brilliance. Continue reading
We are so incredibly blessed to live in such an amazing part of this country. New Zealand truly does have beauty that I had never even imagined!
Every corner on a road trip leads to even more breathtaking and visually tantalizing areas that really are such a treat for my eyes! I really am so grateful!!!! This adventure to Cable Bay was just that!
On the weekend, Nick and I were invited to join some friends on a road trip adventure to Picton, which is a town in the Marlborough region of New Zealand. Picton is also the town where you can hop on a ferry to Wellington, and travel through the Cook Strait and Queen Charlotte Sound. It is such a quaint little town, and the view of all the surrounding little islands along the way is breathtaking!!!
We were so lucky enough to be able to stop along the way, to forage for wild banana passion fruit, which are absolutely delicious! One stretch of the road was laden with vines, with the most beautiful bright pink flowers. Definitely a treat! Continue reading
Nick and I decided to go on one of the Edible Walks the Nelson City Council are encouraging people to try. We took a stroll to Branford Park, and walked along the Maitai River.
We found a group of fruit trees, but none of them were bearing fruit at this time of year. That didn’t stop our adventure though! We carried on, up the river, and at the bridge turned and made our way back down the opposite side of the Maitai River.
If you are in Nelson, I’d highly recommend this walk. It’s a super easy walk and so incredible beautiful, especially at this time of year. Continue reading
